If you're a carb fiend then you probably adore pierogi. Perhaps you've been lucky enough to enjoy pierogi at a Polish diner or even in a Polish household on the regular. However, if you're like most of us, you probably have to satisfy your cravings for these unleavened, stuffed pillowy dumplings from the frozen aisle of the supermarket (though you could always try your hand at following a pierogi recipe from start to finish).

Familiarity with asian-style dumplings has increased in recent years but there are other ethnic varieties of the stuffed delicacy trying to replicate that success. Jaju Pierogi has been on a mission to bring a premium version of Poland’s favored dish to U.S. consumer freezers since 2016.

This year, Whole Foods Market received more than 1,000 new applicants for the Early Growth cohort, doubling applications from the first year with 100% growth. The selected 2023 Early Growth brand participants include: Kinship Milk Tea, Ruby Jean’s Juicery, Tiny Sprouts Food, Gringuita Cookies, Jaju Pierogi, La Rossi Pizza, Lazy Food Co., Seed to Surf, Diaspora Co., and BAM.

Vanessa and Casey White of Jaju Pierogi, which serves pierogis in both creative and traditional flavors, say music festivals are a great way to reach a wider audience. They do a lot of festivals, events and popups to get word out about their food.

As this year’s winner, Jaju Pierogi will enjoy greater retailer visibility along with a free table at a future UNFI buying show.

LYNN (CBS) - Two local sisters are honoring their grandfather through food. Vanessa and Casey White grew up with their grandfather's pierogies in western Massachusetts but as they got older and went to school in Boston, they couldn't find that same pierogi comfort zone anywhere else, so they did something about it.

As a kid, Casey White ’14 loved playing restaurant with friends, using rocks for money and cooking up business ideas.

Food vendors are opening one by one at Somerville’s new Bow Market in Union Square. With Buenas making its debut last Thursday, this week’s addition is Jaju Pierogi, run by sisters Casey and Vanessa White.
